New Leaders

Welcome to Girl Scouting!

Congratulations! You have entered an exciting time in Girl Scouting. Thank you for volunteering your time and energy to help build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place!

The following links are here to help you get started in your journey. The forms are in Microsoft Word or PDF format. You will need Acrobat reader to open these documents, if you do not have it you can download it from here.

You can also link to the New Leader page at the council website by clicking here.

Volunteer Resource Disc

The Volunteer Resource Disc is provided by council to all leaders through the service unit.  This disc contains a wealth of information that will be useful to you as you begin to plan your Girl Scout year.  If you did not yet receive your Volunteer Resource Disc, contact your Service Unit Manager.

Many of the forms you will need to run your troop can be found on the Volunteer Resource Disc or at the council website as either online or downloadable forms.  Click here.

Financial Information

Daisy Girl Scouts should not be involved in handling money, including dues, cookie or calendar sales because of their age.  From Brownie through Senior Girl Scouts, girls should become progressively more involved in troop finance by:

  • Planning the budget
  • Estimating costs for activities and materials
  • Managing money wisely

When purchasing supplies for your troop use the Tax Exemption form.  Girl Scouts is a not-for-profit organization and is exempt from sales tax.

Troop or Service Unit Bank Accounts

When a new troop is established, the leader and at least one other adult actively registered with Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, must complete the two forms required to open a new checking account -- one signer will hold the checkbook, while the other receives the statements (refer to the Finance section of the Volunteer Resources Guide).  These forms are available below.  The originals of these forms are submitted to the bank you have chosen for your account -- Fifth Third, or National City.  Girl Scouts of Western Ohio's Federal Identification Number is 31-0679091.
